Abstract
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a condition of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. The following concept of health is deemed as similar to the concept of health in Islam, in which Islam defines the state of health as the state of synergy between psychological, physical, spiritual, and social factors. In regards to the physical health, Islam promotes physical activity and healthy eating as shown by Prophet Muhammad. Scientifically, the behavior shown by Prophet Muhammad does benefit the state of physical health of the human being. In addition to physical health, mental health is also an important issue to achieve the complete state of well-being. Islam addresses the promotion of one’s mental health through implementation of Islamic faith and worship, tawba, and the state of forgiveness. The following paper would like to further elaborate about the state of complete health in Islam and the relation with modern medicine.
